Re: opinions please
i was looking at 8 lug wheels for my 4x4 last night as well. it seems we have very limited options compared to 5 or 6 lug trucks when it comes to getting open center caps as well. i didn't find what i want but i would go with the slots as well out of your 3 choices. i also agree with andy they must be nicly polished

The slots have that classic cachet, but they're cast aluminum and therefore much weaker than forged aluminum rims like the Weld Sidewinders. The slots will crack and chip in tough 4x4 situations.
While the also excellent Super Singles are only marginally inferior to the Sidewinders, the Sidewinders are the lightest and toughest wheel among the three for a 4x4. So, if you like the look of the Sidewinders and don't mind the price, they are one of Weld's best, two-piece forged rims. Only Weld's Stonecrusher and Mountaincrusher with their reinforced outer bead lips are superior for 4x4s among Weld's two-piece forged wheel offerings. But the Sidewinders are no doubt lighter weight. Were your truck a 2wd, the best looking wheel goes unless you need towing strength and lightweight rolling weight for better braking which would bring you back to the Sidewinders from among the three wheels. BTW, if you can go with new tires at the same time, switch to 16" rims. 16.5" rims have a grossly inferior bead mounting surface to 16" and 15" rims. 16.5" rims thereby run the far greater risk of "loosing a bead" when the tires are run a low air pressures off-road. If you NEVER lower the air pressure, then this probably isn't a concern for you. I'm just providing some info you can use before spending a good chunk 'o change on some nice rims. |
Re: opinions please
I like sluts too.

Re: opinions please
The truck is 2wd and did see some off-road in its lifetime. I will still take it to Pismo or to the desert and do some off-roading, but nothing too extreme. I have never had any problems with the tire coming off of the bead when aired down ( only down to 10 psi or so) I talked w/the guy for the slotted wheels, he put them on hold for the next ten days. I just need to get a cashiers check to him. If there is a problem with strength, I can always go with the Welds.....Its only money.

Re: opinions please
I like #3 also

The slots would be my next choice, but I kinda like the ones that are on it. |
Re: opinions please
The wheels that are on the truck are 15 years old. They look old compared to the brand new stuff I have put on the truck. The were coated with clear coat and has the aluminum look. Everything else on the truck is chrome.....
So now I'm going for polished. |
