New Seat not budging
Hello, I think this is my first topic here, can't remember :) I've got an 85 C10 that I've been using as a daily driver and workin on for a while, and I got a new seat today out of a 78ish Chevy. My question is, the seat won't budge forward. (in other words, I can't get behind the seat). It should fold forward right? I can't figure out how to get it forward. Any tips? Thanks
Stephen Here's some pics: (it's the bench, the buckets are retarted and SOLD!) http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/mysavi.../ph//my_photos |
Re: New Seat not budging
Im not shure what year chevrolet did this but there are some bench seats that have a release lever at the base of the back on both sides and they both have to be held up at the same time in order to get the seat back to fold forward.
Look to see if theres one on each side of your seat if so then you will need to have someone help you. If not then maybe someone bolted the thing so it wouldn't fold fwd. or it could just be rusted to the point that it won't fold fwd. Maybe it would be easier to remove it from the truck and flip it over to see why it won't fold fwd. That's all i can think of for now but it cant be too many things so it shouldn't be that hard to figure out what the problem is. |
Re: New Seat not budging
I'm pretty sure that folding seats were optional on earlier trucks. I have found several in the junkyard that did not flip forward.

Re: New Seat not budging
Well that sucks lol. It's not rusted, the "frame" of the seat is all new, the foam, and the springs too. I'll check to see about that lever, cause I did see something that wasn't on my old one, that might be it.

Re: New Seat not budging
My sons 78 camper special has a lever as 78 stepper said, I used it just the other day.

Re: New Seat not budging
My 80 and 77 both flip, but neither my 74, 76 or 79 flipped forwards. The last few trucks were base model, while the 80 / 77 are both top trim model trucks.

Re: New Seat not budging
If the seat is out of a crew cab or suburban it won't tilt. It will have 2 bolts per side, and most of the time they are covered with material. If you use the truck with the seat all the way back you can remove the top bolt and it will work in a regular cab. It might lean back a bit more than you are used to.
