Funny thing is these pumps look like pumps we used to replace in high capacity laser printers and mail machines. I had 2 of these laying around and I should have kept them. Don't they all just blow air? What's the deal?

I find this to be the most expensive part and I am on a super tigh t budget. I think I could wire one of those car tire pump to work fo me.

The car tire pump would die quickly. They aren't built to run for very long, and they don't see much more than 40 - 50 lbs. It would take it forever to fill a 5 gallon tank too.
If you are on a tight budget get a York, I found one in a junk yard for $15. You will have to build a bracket, buy a belt, maybe a pulley, and do the oil mod but you should be way ahead as far as $$ goes.

You could also start out with no compressor if you have one at home. Just use a schrader valve, fill the tank before you leave and don't play with the switches much
