Vin plate?

Ok next hurdle. When I bought my truck the PO had done most of the patch panel work on the cab and one of those repairs included cutting out and installing a new driver side door pilar where the vin plate was. I have the old panel with the vin plate still attached to it. How do I leagally and safely remove the vin plate from the old pilar and install it in the new door frame?

I think a 1/8 drill bit will take out the rivets then just gently pop it off.

Im more concearned with the rivets to put it back on with. Dosnt it have to be held on with the rosette style rivets for the DMV to consider it leagal.

I would check with your state police or local DMV office first, BEFORE you remove it from the old pillar. Let them tell you what you need to do. I wouldn't touch it until you get an official answer. We can all give you our opinion, but it holds no water with the law. :) No flames meant toward ya 67chevemall, I just don't want anyone here having a new wardrobe of orange coveralls!

I agree check with the local dmv first. I think bisquick on the board sells the rosebud rivets so you might want to pm him
