HELP! Two CST Trucks on eBay

I have been looking for a 67 or 68 CST for months now without any luck, then today two of them showed up on eBay (a 67 & 68). Both of the trucks are in decent condition and both of them have split-bench seats. The 67 is a white longbed & the 68 is a green short bed. My question is, what would be a fair price to pay? Also, have any of you bought your truck on eBay?

Here are the links:

White 1967 CST Long Bed

Green 1968 CST Short Bed

At this point Im leaning toward the 68 because it is a shortbed and it is a lot closer. Also, I am curious about the difference in the value between the short bed and the long bed. NADA shows the value of the long bed trucks to be higher than the short beds... but my experience has been that the long bed sells for less than the short bed.

I would say the price depends on the area and overall condition. On ebay, people pay way to much for some things, so you never know.

I would go short bed unless you need a long bed. I would have liked a short bed, but I use my truck and so the long bed it nice.

that short bed is nice I paid $6500.00 for mine in feb but no rust on it any where and the in very good condition so it's up to you and your pocket.

More info on the Green 68

Thanks guys. I learned a bit more about the '68 green short bed. The owner of the truck was in the process of restoring the truck and was doing everything the right way - but he ended up getting colon cancer and died just a few months ago. The eBay seller is a friend of the family. He says that the undercarriage is really nice with very little rust - the cab has all new corners and cab/frame mount brackets (all genuine GM replacement parts). It was installed the right way by cutting out the old metal and re-welding at the original seams. The cab work alone cost of over $1000! He is supposed to post some pictures of the undercarrige, engine compartment and interior today or tomorrow - so we'll see how it looks.

This one looks to be original all the way around and it is in Texas.
It is not a CST but numbers match is a plus.

I was looking at the two CST's and what I can see that is not correct is the 67 was a 3/4 ton originally according to the vin plate. The 68 was a straight six powered truck- not a big deal but both have been played with extensively mostly for the good from my view point! But maybe not from yours?! Obviously not numbers matching but should be nicer to drive!!

Thanks for the help guys... especially for looking up the VIN data showing the original equipment on the trucks. Is there a convenient way to look this type of data up, or do you just know how to read the numbers?

Regardless, it looks like the Green 68 with the CST seats is gone. I checked back on the auction listing a little while ago and it said the listing had been cancelled. Guess I'll just keep looking. I guess I could always buy a nice 67-68 non-CST truck and find a good CST buddy seat to put in it.

So Hutch, is the Green 68 step side your truck? It looks really nice. I especially like the low original mileage and matching numbers - even if it is a strait-6. I was really looking for a fleetside, but I guess the stepside could grow on me. Do you have any interior pics, or under hood pics? Also, does it have any rust in the cab corners, rockers, kick panels, etc?

BTW- I went to college in Arkansas with a guy named John Hutchinson... son of Asa Hutchinson... dont guess it is the same person though.

You could always buy a 99 and newer chevy truck seat that is set up the same way! I bought one and it's a whole lot more comfortable than those seat ever were!!!;)

I saw that white 67 last night on Ebay. I wondered if the dashboard was painted. I think it might have been since my dad's 68 stepside with the same interior color scheme has a white dash. Does anyone know if the 67 came with the dash this color? I also notice the glove box door was painted black...have seen that on a few others too. You can see pictures of it in my album. (Sorry, the picture is too big to attach here and I'm not sure how to resize it.)

I just bought one off ebay. It has yet to arrive at my house and from what I could see in the pictures and talking with the owner it is a pretty good truck for the $3750.00. As to which one you should pick depends on your preferance and what you will use it for. The green one will go for a few thousand more than the white one I would think. Good luck in your decision and watch out in the last few minutes of the auction because somebody will slide in and try to grab it at the last minute.
