Heater Assembly Question

The heater core in my 87 went out. While replacing it I noticed that the heater door/valve was broken. That partially explains why I wasn't getting any heat, but regardless the heater core needed to be replaced. I am having difficulty finding a new door or at minimum the plastic hinge which controls the opening and closing of the door. I have checked with LMC and Chevy Duty and they do not carry it. Any ideas where I could find one? The local junk yards are of no help.

Thanks,

Brian

Re: Heater Assembly Question

I would think that if you went and got another heater assembly from a local slavage, you could take out the part that you need. I have done this before and had no problem.

What does it look like? I have loose heater/ac parts from an 83 and an 87 parts truck that still has the heater/ac intact.

Re: Heater Assembly Question

Is it the hinge that is broken or the little piece of plastic that sticks through the hole in the door that the rod connects to?

This hinge is ok, but the rubber seal on the door in poor shape and the plastic piece is broken.

Re: Heater Assembly Question

I was able to stick the piece of plastick back through the hole and put a large head self tapping screw on the right side of the plastic piec and it has now held for several years.
