Tow Hitch suggestions
I want to install a Tow hitch on my 72 blazer and was thinking of ordering from LMC Truck, I have stock bumpers and want to eventually buy some accessories like spare tire carrier and motorcycle carrier. Anyone have some experience with tow hitches?

Re: Tow Hitch suggestions
I have a Valley on my '72, but I have yet to use it. I've seen some nice custom setups. I think it is Greg72 on CK5 who has his hitch hidden behind the plate. It is a nice custom job.

Re: Tow Hitch suggestions
I would get the one hidden behind the plate. You don't have to make it, I have seen them sold somewhere... can't remember where though.
I bought my Blazer with a hitch but it is exposed below the bumper. Here is mine. http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...362_9_full.jpg |
Re: Tow Hitch suggestions
http://hiddenhitch.com/ - not sure if they make one for the Blazer.

Re: Tow Hitch suggestions
Early Classic has a Blazer specific hidden hitch kit for about $200. I plan on getting one... eventually.

Re: Tow Hitch suggestions
I still have yet to install my Early Classic hitch (I've had it for almost a year), but it is the only one I know of that is currently made for the 69-72 Blazer/Jimmy. I searched for a while before I found that one.
If I ever get to straightening the frame out on mine I will install it and post some pics. |

$209 is a steal. I like it...
Text and image below is from http://www.earlyclassic.com/catalog.aspx Want to tow with your Classic without that ugly hitch hanging below your bumper? Our new Class 4 Hidden Receiver Hitch is just the answer. Designed for use with the stock '67-’72 factory rear bumper, simply flip up the rear license plate and insert the coupler. It’s that easy. We now offer the hitch components in a package deal: Hidden Receiver Hitch, Extended Ball Mount, License Plate Flip Frame and Flat Four Trailer Wiring. Our new Blazer and Suburban hitches are also finished and in stock, and feature the same quality design and powder-coated finish as our Pickup version. Drilling is required for installation, and every hitch comes with all needed hardware. http://www.earlyclassic.com/ProductI...6-6772BHPU.jpg |
Re: Tow Hitch suggestions
I began to order one and was shocked that at checkout time the shipping charge was $150.00 Dollars. Seems pretty steep. I recently sold and shipped a warn winch bumper via UPS and the cost was $90.00 dollars. I'm sure the warn winch bumper weighs more than that hitch. I understand that I live in Hawaii and that there are packing charges, But $150.00 is Outrageous.
Gorgeous Hitch, I definetly want one.:blah: |
Re: Tow Hitch suggestions
Give them a call and see if there is a cheaper shipping method. Do you have any friends on the mainland that can ship the item over for you? Know anyone shipping a car over that you can stick it inside?

Re: Tow Hitch suggestions
:agree: w/ Bouncer, it has to be Hawaii related, pleed to them to try alternative shipping methods :gi:

Re: Tow Hitch suggestions
There is a chance they might help you out. The guys from Early Classic have always been pretty good. It can't hurt to ask... :)

Re: Tow Hitch suggestions
What ever happened with the shipping??? Did you order the hitch? Did they give you a reason for the high shipping costs?

Re: Tow Hitch suggestions
A friend told me to check out Uhaul first before ordering the early classic hitch. I never even new Uhaul would sell and install a complete hitch set up for me. I'm going to get a quote and take it from there.:help:
