question about 4wd front axle
 

Did the 68 factory 4wd front axle have the closed knuckle design? If so, could it have power steering (power steering box, not the cylinder type)? I'm looking for the best way to convert my 67 4wd to power steering? And yes, I have read all about the spacers and beating the frame....etc. Just curious about the knuckle idea since the axle steering arms are different between power and manual setups. Thanks, Greg

68 would have a closed knuckle. Some of the 69's were closed, too.

As far as PS goes, I think you just dent the frame for a 69-72 box, drill a hole, and bolt it right in. Thats how I've understood it. Here's a link: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=192229

got the closed axle on my 68 and the ps setup works great.previous owner installed the ps gear box,so not sure what was involved,but can check it out a bit for you if needed and snap a pic or 2 if ya like.

Yes I could use some pics. My 67 closed knuckle has a different steering arm than the later ones with power steering. I'm not sure what is needed off a P/S truck to convert it. I can figure out the mounting and all that, but I'm not sure about the linkage from the steering box to the front axle. ANy details would be great. Will check out the link listed also. THANKS, Greg

The drag link wasn`t adjustable originally.But,you can get an adjustable one now if it doesn`t already have one.
