Rear License plat option with no bumper?

I recently removed my rear bumper witch resemble those that use to be on late 80s and early 90s model F$#d truck. The PO welded the brackets as well as bolted them on there. I had to use what I had and grind the welds down the best I could with my grinder and bent them back and forth and got them off. Anywho I cleanned up the welds and painted.

Now how do I mount my plate? Not in the rear windows guys. :P Is there a bracket or a kit? Anyone h ave pix?

Thanks

Are you putting another bumper on? Rollpan? Nothing?

Sport bumpers have a license plate thingy in them and you can get a roll pan that has a cut out for a plate as well.

On my truck, there was the original bracket, for new trucks with no rear bumper. It ended up getting a dealer installed camper and telescoping rear bumper.
The original bracket was found as it was left installed in 1969, that is screwed into the sheet metal beneath the tailgate. I ended up remounting mine onto the telescoping bumper.
There is a brochure that shows it, I think...

Is this what you are looking for:http://www.gmcpauls.com/pictures/67-...%20Bracket.jpg OR the brackets that hold the bumper on?http://www.gmcpauls.com/pictures/Fle...Brkt%20Set.jpg

You can make a bracket out of some scrap metal. Big thing around here, and enforced somewhat is making sure you have a light for the tag. I took a couple pieces of metal strapping and screwed them to the bottom of the rear cross sill, then bolted the tag to it. Then I wire wrapped the light just above the tag. It kept me legal till I got a proper bumper.

Look at a cheap trailer plate holder at the auto parts store. Most states require a light on the plate. The trailer bracket might also give you some creative ideas.

Have fun - Bob

Eventually I'll get a new sport bumper but for now I need to get the plate with a light on there and was looking at my options.

The street rod guys use some of the vacuum operated lic plate brackets that are hidden when parked and then with engine running the lic plate flips out from underneath the vehicle. I restored a 40 ford sedan and installed one for the customer. He provided so I do not remember where he purchased.
