Do it the easy way, just get rid of everything but the sheet metal then just scratch build a tube frame and go play! 37's, locked front and rear, 4.88 rp, 5:1 T case and full manual auto trany and then tons of suspention and motor.

Mine went from this to this!

I live in Colorado and used to go four wheeling alot my Truck was very capable and I could go anywhere I wanted and all I did to it was 4" skyjacker softride 33" TXR Wild Country tires, 4.10 gears with a Detriot EZ locker in the rear longer shocks extended braded brake lines. This is when my Truck was a stepside shortbed and so I also had a 1/4" plate of diamond steel welded in for a bed floor that gave the rear extra weight and traction. I would go 4 wheeling in the winter up trails to do some shooting and not even use 4 wheel drive it was funny becasue Jeeps would drive by in low range fourwheel up the trail that I just went up in 2wd using granny gear. That posi really helped alot combined with the extra rear weight.

Looks better in the first pic IMO.

Nice buggy for sure but why waist a sweet Bronco to do it?
Looks like all you used/kept were the two fenders and a grill?

I'd build a buggy if that's what I was after but I prefer the look and functionality of the old iron.
Keeping it street legal is in the parameters also.

I am going to have to agree I love 1st gen Broncos and I almost puked when I seen what you just did to that sweet Bronco. There are people out there that would kill for a 1st gen Bronco and then there are those that ruin them. Kind of reminds me of a 68 SS Camaro I seen the other day on a Frecking blazer frame..

Well heres the deal, I got it for the rubicon and it ended up to nice to beat off road. All the money was in the motor (351W w/efi) and both axels. So I sold off the rest of what I did not need and gave my best man the tub for his EB that is beyond fixing. Then I built the chassie and everything else for just rock crawling and high speed desert running. I to like the EB's and I have a 71 with only 59k original miles that is going back to stock. I PO cut out the rear fenders and that is the only damage on the entire rig! No rust, no dents, the top has never been off and it was a one owner rig! Sp this way I have one for off road, one for on road, we put one that was trashed back into good shape(my old tub) and alot of real nice parts helped out about ten more guys. Although I am concidering turning the stock eb into a two wheel drive street rod;)

I am still wondering why Ford did that. Until a few years ago, I was under the impression that *ALL* of the 66-77 broncos had normal rear fenders...until I saw a rusty old '66 on the coast of Maine that some old guy owned. Thought it was a one year deal- but then found out differently.

BTW, I like the crawler but leave that one stock- it's even ochre :o

First off sorry for the post going side ways! But if youare looking for a good trail rig I would start with strong running gear. Once that is all done and ready then move to body protection. Have some nice solid rocker guards made up and then some kind of corner protection all to keep the body from getting to much abuse. Line-ex the interior so it is easy to just hose out and if you want to paint it go with a non matalic color so it can be touched up easy. Yes I know a trail rig does not need to look good but with the price of all this old iron why not keep it as good as you can and still have fun.

Looks good! My wife thought it was me in the pic! We have the same barber and pasty white head :lol: I will try and find some pics of a blazer I saw that was the same idea as my buggy. It was over on the pirates board.

thanks for posting it. I've seen it before too. I think it's pretty classy actually! Sh!t you could make one of those out of a 67-72 truck with out chopping up a nice blazer. the custom grill etc etc. Very cool... if only he has some tow hooks like my new ones :lol:

That is sweet looking! And the wrecked blazer I posted was a weld on truck cab not a half cab so their is still one out their for ya! Notice how the drivers A post tour in half, that must have been where they welded it in place.
