Painter just finished my inner fenders and seeing how the engine is in I went searching thru my mess of a gargage and found a few needed items, LOL!

Question...seeing how this was a 3 on the tree truck....How do I determine the correct locatoin for the crossmember. Trans is 700R4. Thanks guys

Alex

I haven't done the 700r-4 swap, but I know it goes further back than the stock th350 location, you may have to drill your own holes.

When I changed over from a th350 to a th400 I bolted up the tranny and slipped the mount in place, squared it up, marked the holes and drilled them. In my opinion Its the sure fire way to fit it in. Had to move back a few inches.

Re: Next... and a help question

My truck was an I6 with a manuel 3spd and I had to move mine back. Best thing to do is get everything in, mark and drill holes as stated above. My crossmember did use what I think was the original rear holes for the holes for the front of the crossmember, so I only had to drill the back holes.

Edit: where the trans mount goes will also depend on where you mounted your engine (I6 or V8 location, or custom mounts)

Good call guys :gi: ! I will bolt the trans in place and then install the auto crossmember. This truck was a I6 too with 3 on the tree......oh but she's got a whole new life ahead of her soon!

Yes place your engine and trans in place and adjust the auto cross to the right location. Some holes may line up but probably not all.

It sounds worse than it really is - Bob
