So what Now?
Anybody ever get 'bored' with their ride?
My green 71 K5 has been done for a couple years now, so all we ever do with it anymore is just take it out on nice days then park it back in the garage agian and walk away until the next time. I actually miss the truck, after all the hours I spent on it and now I hardly ever really see it...anybody ever go through this? I feel like I put the ole girl out to pasture or something... :whine:  :help: me out here, what the hecks going on? |
Re: So what Now?
Perhaps its time to sell. I'll PM you my adress, and you can have it shipped to me. I'll drive it this summer and let you know what I think is a fair price. I'll include shipping of course. Off the top of my head, I'd say it'd be worth $3000 to me, maybe even $4000!

Oh, okay! Just let me think on that one a sec... Heh heh...nice try. ;) |
Re: So what Now?
I know exactly how you feel. Mine spends all its time sitting under a cover in my driveway. Now with gas prices so high I even drive her less. It seems like such a waste to have this nice truck sitting there doing nothing. I keep finding little things to do on it though. I got new hood hinges to put on and while the hood is off I figure I'll paint the underside. But it's not like you don't have any other trucks to work on is it?

Re: So what Now?
I understand what your saying VT. While I'm breathing a sigh of relief on finally being complete, the journey was very enjoyable. I'm already snooping around, looking at other potential projects.
Right now, I'd love to do either of these projects 1) 32 Ford Roadster; 2) 57 Chevy Pickup, Converted to 4x4; But I don't know if I could ever part with my blazer now that it's completed. So...I guess that means I need a bigger garage! LOL See...Yet another project is found! |

No problem there for sure, it just seems such a shame to 'not' give it the attention it once got only due to being finished. I guess it'll have to settle for being QUEEN of the fleet. ;) |
Re: So what Now?
Why not tear it down and change the color a shade in your spare time?lol
There`s always wax`n`polish.Or,load`er on the trailer and take`er to work sometimes.Heck,I dunno.Ever have your wife drive it and follow her around so you can watch it go down the road? |
Re: So what Now?
Its only going to get worse. I haven't taken my 69 RS/SS Camaro in over 2 yrs it just sits there. I am now working on my 70 Blazer then I will go back and get my 71 Blazer done (My 1st ever ride that carried me through high school, college and my early yrs until the 85 monte Carlo SS came along. Its a vicious cyle that never ends, Its something you never get over You just learn to live with it

Re: So what Now?
You'll never forget the time and effort that you put into it - even if it does sit in the garage most of the time. I finished an 8 year restoration on my grandfathers 1941 Indian Chief motorcycle before I started on my Blazer. The bike sits a lot now, but every time I get it out on a nice day, it reminds me that all of the effort and hard work were well worth it.

Re: So what Now?
This is part of the reason none of mine are restored. They`re decent, there`s always later(I baby them),and I`m not afraid I`ll mess them up.Been there, done that. They will all get restored eventually, but not for show.I like to go to shows, take pictures of everybody`s nice stuff, talk, then leave when I`m ready, and take a ride.Kurt just drive it whenever you can,it`s all you can do.Unfortunately,we have to work so much and leave our toys at home.At least your Blazer can haul your family. That`s the beauty of these things.

Re: So what Now?
I've got the answer to all your problems. "make it your dailey driver". Mine is and I'm always working on it to keep it running. Never a boring moment. Although I have now gone almost 2 weeks without an issue......hmmm maybe it's time to sell.
PS $112 to fill the tank on Tuesday. I'd complain but i wont have to do that again until next Tuesday. |
Re: So what Now?
Are you kidding me VT? You don't have to give it the attention it needs because it is finished. All of us should be so fortunate to have such a sweet Blazer.
Now quite your whinning and go build yourself a King! ;) |
Re: So what Now?
what to do?
[A] Lend it to me when i come to VT this summer with my girl and our black lab. I'll give it plenty of use (your call, green or hard core 4x4 blazer  [B] I manage to get my blazer to vermont, and being the nice guy i know you are, you fix it all up for me in time for me to drive it home, in which case i'll still be able to "barrow" one of yours while you work on mine  |

Re: So what Now?
Time to start a new project. Your Blazer is looking great.

Re: So what Now?
hmmm a 3rd option, Wellllll i did say i am going on this trip with my better half, you should just lend us BOTH your blazers instead of just one. This way we won't have to share...we'll each have SUPER nice blazers to race around Vermont in! In the mean time i'll even LET you fix mine up for me, for free ofcorse .Rental car companies won't rent to you unless you're 25, but i'm sure you'll be willing to overlook that, right?
seriously , i've been waiting for this trip and i hope it materializes... should it, i know i'm going to be bummed out not having my blazer with me to enjoy it all. (we'll be taking the 97 grand cherokee, yes we'll be driving out from CA) Oh yea, and if you're really getting too bored, then crack the wip and get to work on those custom doors ;) |
Re: So what Now?
Now I know why LUV won`t paint his GQ.He`s trying to avoid your predicament.
