Name for our trucks, round II
"our" trucks, that is...
Awhile back we tried to decide on a name for this bodystyle, but it didn't get anywhere. I remember an article referred to them as "Glamour trucks." Yuck! I think it's hard to come up with a name because they look equally nice either lowered or lifted, and anything in between resto and full-custom. So has anyone gotten more ideas of a fitting name for them? I don't have any suggestions but I would like to find a name so I can stop referring to them as "sixty seven to seventy twos" when I talk to people about them. Thnx. |
"Modern Classics"
|
I was looking on gmc's site, thinking maybe they had a name for these years -- and quess what? There's not a single picture or even a mention of a the 67-72 model trucks in their history section!! Geez, what's up with that!!

Glamour Pickups?
Check out THIS LINK....
|
A book I have refers to the years from 50 to 80 as the Classic years.
|
I like to refer to them as the "Sport Truck" Series.
- 1st really modern design of a pickup. - 67 1st year of CST- - 68 1st year of Big Block- - the late 60's-early 70's was a time when pickups first started being used for a lot for pleasure -camping ect. A lot of the advertising of this period shows them on beaches ect. I think it's a really good name especially with all the modified Hi Po. trucks you see in our series. |
Only problem with that, look at the sport truck magizines...all those stupid mini-me trucks have that name take already. :(

I'm not trying to be a pain or anything but what do you mean by "first big block?"
|
problem with using a buzzword with any series of vehicle is that it leaves most people in the dark... even "shoebox chevy" gets blank stares from most people.... everyone can relate to a year or time period vs. a buzzword...
I know, how about "nixon era trucks"....!!!!! ha |
Why not take a page from the Camaro or 'Vette guys?
I'm not sure what generation these trucks are, but for argument's sake, lets say 7th generation. "Yeah, I've got a 7th Gen Chevy shortbox" or "Nice truck, I've got a T7 Longhorn at home, myself." 4th Gen Camaro=7th Gen Truck C5 Vette=T7 truck just brainstorming....... |
Well, since that was the era of the muscle cars, led by GM cars, how about muscle trucks?
|
I don't know about you guys and gals but my name for our trucks is THUG!!!!!!!!!:bowtie:
|
I always refer to my truck as "the iron sled".
|
How about THE GREATEST TRUCKS EVER hell if someone said they had one of the greatest trucks ever built I would know they had a 67-72 chevy no matter what style stepside, Fleetside short or long box, Longhorn, Cheyenne Super, Camper Special it would not matter it's a 67-72 CHEVY TRUCK, THE GREATEST TRUCK TO ROLL ON THIS PLANET !!!!!! CAN I GET A AMEN.:flag:
|
I meant to say first year of a factory big block in a chevy truck (68 396)
I'm sorry, "glamor" series does not cut it for me. It reminds me of a woman's magizine. I think we should take "Sport Truck" away from the rags and use it ourselves. Or we could just call them "Custom Sport Truck" or just CST series for short. I guess some of you 71-72 folks wouldn't care for that!:D |
I was thinking of calling my truck "Terminal Illness"
|
CST Series is perfect!! This is the only body style for CST. Cheyenne is ok, but they made them later. (I remember my ol' man's 78 Blazer Cheyenne)
