S-10 Durango
1 Attachment(s)
Good Morning to all. At one time I think that I might have asked this question before. But I don't think that I posted a picture of it at the time. So I will try to post a jpg. Does anyone know anything about this truck? This is a 1984 S-10 extended cab 4x4 Durango with the factory body lift. We are trying to rebuild it. We have a new interior so far. We can't find any paint codes or RPO stickers anywhere. WE have a general idea because of the serial number but that is about it. any info would be appreciated. Like how many were made and what the original color might be. Thanks to all.

Re: S-10 Durango
Is there a sticker in the glove box that gives a large amount of two letter and number codes. In the middle of all that is the paint numbers. Just by chance is there a metal tag on the firewall by the brake booster that has numbers on it--the paint code could be there.
GM made a vehicle that was called the "DURANGO"--and I thought Chrysler was the only ones that did that. |
Re: S-10 Durango
That is a new one on me too. And a factory body lift to boot. Them sneaky devils been holden out on us.

Re: S-10 Durango
Maybe a S10 blazer?

Re: S-10 Durango
no, not a blazer, it was an option on the pickups... lift and bigger tires.. I have even seen on with a rollbar but no sure if that was factory or not.

Re: S-10 Durango

Re: S-10 Durango
Good morning. No, There isn't anything in the clove box or firewall. We have had this truck for 9 years and have looked everywhere for I.D. with no luck. I think someone laid it on its right side and tried there best to fix it. We have a new door for that side and will be looking for a fender. There looked like there was a roll bar in the bed but it was taken out long before we got it. I am going to have to weld up the holes and some of the rust spots. But a fairly clean truck.

Re: S-10 Durango
That blue and silver color is a standard S-10 color pattern from those days, I would imagine that a good Body shop could match it.

Re: S-10 Durango
Thanks. we are on the S-10 forum and have had no luck finding 4x4 info or RPO codes from that site either. Not too much info on this truck. not sure yet if it has the np 207 or the np205 because it is rated as a half ton heavy duty with tow hooks and all. since the truck has the 20 gallon tank we thought maybe we could add the 13 gallon for extra fuel. the room is there under the end of the bed. plus thinking about putting a V-8 327 or 350 in with the th350 or the 700r4 with overdrive. we have a 327 from a 68 c-10 with the canister oil filter 3914678 and forged crankshaft 4672X. not sure of the condition yet because we are trying to keep it one peice until we decide to rebuild it. the 350m that we have is in the 84 gmc vandura with the 4 bolt mains. the body on the van is a ### and that is why we thought of maybe using that engine. just a note to all this, we don't want to change anything until we are sure that it isn't the last type of truck on the planet. that is why we would like to know bout how many of the 4x4 durangos were made. thanks to ALL.

Re: S-10 Durango
It's not a 205. There should be an ID tag on the transfer case somewhere. The Durango was a trim level on the early S10's. Check with your paint jobber to match the colors on the truck. There are a few companies that make S10 V8 swap kits. I think you will have to change the oil pan to get it to clear the crossmember.
