Speaker Locations
Where have people put speakers other than the kick panels or in the doors?
I am thinking of putting 6"x9"s in boxes in the rear corner of the cab where the gas tank was. Any pics? |

I put Infinity Kappa 6x9's in the corners. Boxes are custom made fiberglass houses, then covered with a leather looking black vinyl.

Great minds think alike! That's just about what I'm thinking.

Here are the front components houses: Your feet don't really have a problem...as they straddle the speaks. They would have cause many more problems in the kick panel area. Best...They sound awesome!

Re: Speaker Locations
There is a headliner kit that has 4 speakers in it. I think LMC sells them, about $200. with speakers.

The speakers can only handle 10 watts though I put mine under the seet, in metal frames. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...nterior003.jpg |
Re: Speaker Locations
Unless your just looking to just get some basic tunes in your truck, putting speakers in the kick panels will give you the best sound out of any location in your vehicle. Putting full-range speakers under or behind your seat aims them towards the floor boards or back of the seat(away from your ears) and muffles the sound.
Assuming there is enough room and whatnot...if I were putting together a system, here's what I'd do: 5 1/4 or 6 1/2" (whichever will fit) components in the kick-panels 6x9's ( or largest that will fit) in upper rear corners for rear fill 8 or 10" sub(s) under or behind seat Here's some universal Q-Forms kick-panel enclosures, if ya dont wanna build your own. Kinda pricey if you get em from Crutchfiled, but you should be able to find them cheaper if you shop around a bit. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-69obkaP...search=q+forms |

They are just A.B.S. plastic pods that are screwed in.

I put two infinity 6x9's under my seats, 300w max with VERY nice sound. I traded in my kickers for these bad boys and have never been happier.

i welded the corners shut. you can only fit a 5"X7" this way, if you angled the corner piece you might be able to fit a 6"X9"

Re: Speaker Locations
set of 20$ box speakers from CHECKERS behind the seats in the corners and one 6.5 under the dash in the stock location and im gonna put speakers in the vent openings (already cut the 1/8" plywood and covered it in gray carpet) just have to get the 6.5" speakers and cut the holes. already sounds awesome with just the rear speakers. this truck has the best accoustics of any vehicle ive ever owned.

Re: Speaker Locations
I'm going with an 8" RE8 sub and an alpine mono amp under the seat and a second amp for the fronts. To start with they'll be the three way JBL 6x9's currently in the back end of the door panels but eventually I'll go for some decent components up front, probably in the doors.

Re: Speaker Locations
Some of the vendors will have a speaker set that fits in the stock dash location. It is a double speaker,it hooks one side to each channel.I don't know the amp rating.

Re: Speaker Locations
I go some round little speakers under the seat rolling around. My kick panels are carpeted so got good excuse for not hacking holes on it!!! eventually I just put some boxes with 6x9 under the seal and leave the little round ones there to!!!
I like the setup of "The inglish roastbeef" :=) |
