I HAVE A 67 PICKUP AND DON'T LIKE WHERE THE GAS TANK IS BECAUSE I CAN'T LEAN MY SEAT BACK! IF ANYBODY KNOWS WHERE I CAN BUY A AFTERMARKET GAS TANK TO MOUNT UNDER THE BED I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT.

I am going to check out having a tank custom made from stainless steel. was talking to a guy at a local show and shine that had one made from aluminum-(I quess that is spelled right) for $200.00

brothers.com, brotherstrucks.com, something like that sells a complete kit with tank, straps and sending unit. Dont remember the price

Brothers sells them (www.brotherstrucks.com) for $429.95, and it fills through the bed floor. Also, No Limit Engineering sells them (www.nolimit.net) The price for them was $419, but that is listed in a 1998 magazine. I wouldn't buy a gas tank from anyone at any show unless they had experience, I could see some of their work and talk to some of the people he/she made it for, and they provided some type of warranty.

RACING29, i'm going through the same thing man. All of the gas tanks i've seen are going to be around $400.

i used a jaz fuel cell. 16 gallons, a little on the small side but oh well, a lot cheaper than an aluminum tank and safer in a crash, any tank back there is safer in a crash than the tank behind the seat

I'm with nate on that one...anyplace but behind the seat is going to make me feel more comfortable.

We make custom aluminum or stainless tanks to your specs for under 400.00. We also carry the blazer tank kit in the MISC section of our catalog.

We have several aluminum boat makers here in south louisiana, I found one that will make one to fit in the back of the frame for $215. Be sure and have a baffle installed, especially if running fuel injection. Fuel cells have foam, and as long as it doesn't interfere with the sending unit, they would work well. I almost went with a fuel cell, but needed the custom tank to make the camaro fuel pump and sending unit fit.

i was thinking about relocating my self and im into the pro street maybe occasional drag race;), but heres my idea, i want a big block , thats more weight in the front,which i dont need cus im already too light in the back, and the stock 20 galloner, is a pita to fill every friggin 5 minutes , so im thinkin make an aluminum/stainless steel one for my bed maybe around 30-40 gallons goin all the way across the bed in the back of my truck in front of the tubs with the filler neck on top , prob could use my old filler neck and locking cap ,what do you think????i think that polished aluminum would match a wood bed and polished tubs nicely.....

You could make it look as good as you want. Even trim it out to match the wood bed. Zillions of posibles.

nate68, how did you get that tank in there? I went and looked under my truck yesterday and realized that the crossmembers are in the way. Did you just remave some or what? I was wanting to get a 22 gallon fuel cell for under the bed of my 68. If anyone knows where to find them let me know please. (I've looked in Summit, Jegs, Chevy Duty) Thanks in advance.

One more question. If I do put a fuel cell under the bed, will I have to run an electric fuel pump or will a higher flow mechanical fuel pump work? Thanks.

the tiny crossmember that was there is just for the spare tire. removing it won't affect the strength of your frame or anything. i got mine from a local speed shop but u can get them from summit, jegs, etc. measure the room you have and then look at dimensions of fuel cells.
no you dont have to have an electric fuel pump, my mechanical one works just fine

I was looking through the jc whitney catalogue and they cary steel repros of 73 and up jimmy and blazer tanks. One was a ~25 gal and the other ~35...I dont remember. Anyway, they also sell brackets also for $35 more. I get free shipping for more than $250 so that may be the way to go for me.
