Need some opinions, 78 1 ton duelly!
Hello All,
I haven't posted in this forum for a while but I very much do like this side of the house. I wanted to get as many opinions as I can on what I am about to ask. HERE IS MY QUESTION. Do you guys think I should keep it and finish bringing it back to life or let it go and move on? I do have my Longhorn. My duelly needs a new 350 motor. Needs the new front end installed. Parts are in the back bed. Needs the new door Installed, new door in the bed. Last but not least it needs a new bed or me to weld the old bed. Truck is rust free and the cab is in excellent shape. Everything works on it except motor. I know in the end it is up to me, I really do love this truck. I have a friend that will help me for free with everything. He is a motor mech. I will be retiring from the service in a year and a half and I may leave Ca. Having this truck in Ohio would be great. This has been a roller coaster in my head for three years now and I just wanted somemore thoughts on this. Thanks to all whom reply ahead of time. Respectfully Billy :) THIS IS NOT A FORSALE ADD IN ANYWAY SHAPE OR FORM. |

It sounds like you really do like the truck but that it's seems sort of overwhelming right now. Having a friend who can help you (in CA?) might make the difference to move forward.
Once back in Ohio, it sounds like a very do-able project, mainly with mechanical items vs rampant rust; the rust is a no-go for me, but that's just my view. One other thought...I have found myself doing the mental spin-cycle about my '77. Several times I have just put the idea aside, letting it figure itself out so to speak. I haven't decided exactly which way to go yet (sell? fix? upgrade? etc), but then I haven't spent money on something I wasn't sure enough I wanted. For me, it ebbs and flows. I think that's true for most of us. When it flows, boy it flows....then it ebbs again at some point ;) And that's normal too. Some of the most passionate folks here I think will attest to that, which I have found helpful and more than a little reassuring. |

:) Thanks for the reply. I believe it will work itself out in the end. It is always nice to hear what others think or would do. The 73-87 is my favorite body style. That square look is awesome. Well, I will stay with it and I think it will fall right in and work.
Thanks again Billy:metal: |

I have a few. I can send them to you email. I haven't mastered posting them here. I don't know how I did my Avitar.
