5 Attachment(s)
Well, Im a little late posting my pictures of my progress, but here I go. I took a week and a half off and went to my fathers house with all of my parts due to the fact that he has a small shop with a compressor and air tools to assist the job. The parts I put on:
-P.S.T front end rebuild kit -all new drums, brakes and hardware including master cylinder -all new stainless steel brake lines and hoses -new master cylinder -3" front drop springs, 5" rear drop springs -drop shocks -new sway bars and bushings -15" deep dish mickey thompson aluminum rally wheels -new lug nuts and wheel studs with center caps and spinners -new BF Goodrich Radial TA's P295/50r15 I have some more updated pics with the body work taken down to metal and primered from the back of the cab all the way foward. Ill have to take a picture here today of a side shot with the bed on it, the bed is the only thing not primered. I really need to find another short bed fleetside. If anyone has one in eastern NC or eastern VA, please let me know if your intereseted in selling. Please let me know what you guys think. I've had so many comments on the truck since I did what we did with the wheels and suspension work but I really wanna see what the board members think. I have more pics if anyone is interested. Thank guys! |

Re: Pictures of my truck progress
Thats a lot of work for that amount of time! What did you use on the frame? Looks to be a nice bed...what's wrong with it? The panel fitment looks great (especially the hood.) No matter what I tried, I couldn't get my hood "down" enough:( Post the pics! You can never have enought pics! It's coming along nicely.

Re: Pictures of my truck progress
I used the Eastwood rust encapsulator kit for the frame. Im am VERY pleased with the product and have already recommended it to many others.
The inside of the bed including the floor and sides are rusted out pretty bad. Im gonna have to do alot of metal work if I want to keep it. The outside is in very good shape though. I just wanted to throw in there that if anyone had one to sell, Id be willing to buy it. But thanks for the compliments |

Re: Pictures of my truck progress
Hey, not to be off subject, but how far are you away from New River Air Station? Hopefully after my A school, I'll get orders to New River for C school, as you know we have no control as where we go, but I'm hoping I go there anyway and was wondering what board members are around that area???
The truck is looking great and those wide ass tires on the rear make it look sweet. Also who's 60ish truck is that in the background? Anyway, Nice Truck Brandon |
Re: Pictures of my truck progress
Im about 30 minutes north of New River Air Station right off of 24. Ive been to New River numerous times, its not far at all. One of my best friends is stationed there.
Thats my dads 66 in the side of the one picture. Hes building a nasty stroker motor right now. 383, with 2.10 heads all roller. Gonna be sweet. Hes up in Virginia Beach, VA. Hopefully I can meet up with ya sometime. Later |

Re: Pictures of my truck progress
lol, thanks tug. Those wheels are actually about 10 years old. I bought one of those power ball buffers that go on the end of a drill. Its made by Mothers and I got it at advanced. I spent no more than 20 mionutes total on all 4 wheels and they have been sitting for 5 years. Its an awesome item to have.

Re: Pictures of my truck progress
Whats that blue thing peeking out of the corner in one of your pictures? Nice progress by the way.

Re: Pictures of my truck progress
Looks great keep up the great work..

Re: Pictures of my truck progress
That blue thing is my dads 66 shortbed fleetside. It a pretty bad azz truck. Hes has a hot motor in it now but has his next motor in the shop getting machine work done to it for a 383. Thanks for the compliments guys.

Re: Pictures of my truck progress
What size are those wheels and tires? What drop is on there? Got any more pictures of them?
|
Re: Pictures of my truck progress
The wheels are 15" by 10 or 12" deep. The tires are p295/50r15 BF Goodrich Radial T/A(awesome tires!). The drop is 3 inch drop coil front springs and 5 inch drop rear coil springs. The rear needs a lowering block of about and inch or 2 to make it level. But I love it. It handles like a new car and the tires stick to the road like glue. Its and amazing difference. I can get some more pictures up soon for ya.

Re: Pictures of my truck progress
Good to hear. I ordered those wheels and the same tires but a different size and then saw this so wanted to get an oppinion. I like the look of that three bar in the middle. Old school with new school is allways kick ass. Hope to see a big difference from my stock 235/85/16 LT on the narrow steel wheels and the stock heavy duty coils lol

Re: Pictures of my truck progress
I can even explain the difference with my ride. Well, I also had a bad front shock and 2 REALLY bad tie rod ends. The tie rods ends were about to come out of the shaft, I could shake the tie rods end in my hand and watch it bounce around. hehe. I dont know how it held up for the time it did.
With my old tires on there, I couldnt really use my stall converter because the tires were so skinny and would just spin. With these tires, she stays locked until 2800 and then releases awesome. Youll love the outcome. The tires are great! They last 6 years on my dads old 69 longbed we had with a stroker motor. We ran the guts outta that thing. hehe. |
Re: Pictures of my truck progress
Lol i know how that goes with the skinny tires spinnin. I can't wait till I get them all on. Where did you get those spinners?
|
Re: Pictures of my truck progress
I got those from JC Whitney, all 4 center caps and spinners for about 50 dollars. Wasnt bad at all.
Post some pics when you get your stuff mounted and rollin, id like to see it! |

Well I got my tires mounted on my wheels but ran into a problem with my studs. My wheels are thicker and I can't get a lug nut more then 3 turns on. Did you have that problem? I guess I just need to get some longer studs and use the accorn nuts. But I did put them on to see the fit. Its just on jackes and the front suspension is hanging so it looks weired but I love the way they made this old truck come alive.
