Ok, so it appears I had a decent paint job on my 67....but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, I just couldn't let a couple small runs and a few dust bunnies go, could I? I was told by quite a few peeps that metallic urethane paint couldn't be wet sanded properly (and it can't I tried it:() SO I spent about 6 hours sanding and retaping the front end and another hour spraying it blue.... AGAIN! It came out REAL nice this time. No runs and only a small bug or two:lol:

OK, so what other crazy (and sometimes stupid) things have y'all done to your truck???

I haven't been able to work on mine enough to mess it up much. But, I tried to spin the tires once with it. After the results came through, I was severely depressed.

Hey, your lucky. At least you can paint with a sprayer and make it look good!

i see nothing at all wrong with doing it till your happy with it. thats why we do things our selfs so we don't have to settel with what somone else thinks is good enough. way better to fix it now than to live with it and make excuses later. keep up the good work

That ain't crazy...it is never easier to repaint then when it's already tore down. Here's a pat on the back for having the will power to fix it. Looks great BTW.

Quality work requires disipline. That means what you did, didn`t accept a drop in quality even though it meant more work when you thought you were done.Like`s been said, now`s the easiest time to do it.

no seriously that totally awsome.. i no how you feel. i spent a year bending and welding in my cage. but the dang welder was to small for the job and my welding skills are good but apperently not good enough. i had to cut it all out and start over. cost me lots of money and about year and a half of my time.. but now it is NHRA certified for 8.5 sec and slower

anyways that thing is

aaawwwwsome!!!!!

Looks good. Nothing wrong with getting it right. BTW, I really like the matching tires.

I really hate having to reshoot something due to build-up of materials and cost of flippen paint these days, but if it turns out better the second time around......it's worth it.

That is a cool color.

Well Dad made a big mistake on my truck, also paint related. He took another cab to a body shop to get it painted. The shop that did the work fixed VERY MINOR rust spots on the cab, painted it and the fenders, cowl, and hood...........then charged about $3000! I told Dad he's crazy for doing that, they just took advantage of him. The whole interior isn't even painted. There's still old yellow paint showing through the kickpanel vents, and the whole floor is primer grey, back when it was new the factory painted the whole cab, not just parts you can see! Anyway the cab has just been sitting on a small trailer since then. Oh yeah, ya know the seam sealer around the top roof of the cab? They didn't put it on there very good and it's all cracking and coming off, and the drip rails are rusted all underneath it. And guess what, they want more $$$ to fix their own half a#s job!!! whoa time to calm down...........

Re: I must be nucking futz, how 'bout you?

Robert: That REALLY sucks man. I spent a good bit of time on my cab drip rails(cleaned and sanded them REAL well and rust encapsulated them for good measure) and made sure I used a flexible outdoor sealer from 3M. I'll also keep an eye on it for cracking, just in case, I can fill it in before it rusts and put some touch up paint over it, but after almost 2 months, no cracks yet.(fingers crossed).
