Had to hotwire my truck, now it won't start......

I had to hotwire my truck last week last week 'cuz my ignition switch started smoking where all the wires go into it, so I cut the wires from the back and put the red and yellow together to get the truck started, now today after work I put the wires together and it won't start :m6: I got power to the red wire, but not the yellow one, I'm afraid it may have a cut or worse melted somewhere, where does this yellow wire go to? anybody has a diagram for the ignition switch so I can re-wire eveything until I get another ignition switch? my truck is sitting at my work's parking lot, and another thing my turn signals don't work anymore.

TIA. :)

Is there a starter relay or fuse that may have died because of your fun little exploits. haha, just throwing out an idea, the best of luck. I hate not being able to drive my truck.

It's best that he finds out what caused the smoking and get that fixed before jumping any wires or he may not have a truck to worry about. If he has a points dizzy running a wire like you suggest will burn up the coil as they were designed to run on 9 volts as you know. Its too bad we dont' have any details. :( I'm guessing the yellow wire from the ignition makes it a points dizzy.

the yellow wire from the ignition switch goes to the resistor for the heater fan assy so i don't know how that would have allowed you to start the truck?????

None of my schematics even show a yellow wire at the ignition switch........

Thanks for the replies guys, you are right, the wire isn't yellow, it's pink  sorry about that, I wound up getting the truck towed to my place, I'll go throu (sp?) the underdash wiring later 'cuz I failed to wear safety glasses while I was under my truck and a big piece of crap got in my eye, can't get it out and it's killing me.

BTW, truck has the stock points distributor

Thanks.
