Are all Disc brake conversions 5 or 6 lug?
Hi. I'm new here and I've looked through all the FAQs I could find but couldn't find what I was looking for.
I've got a 69 Chevy C20 with 8 lugs. Everything I've seen involves going to 5 or 6 lugs, even for the 3/4 tons. Am I missing something or am I going to have carry 2 spares or convert to 6 lugs all the way around? Can I convert to Disc brakes and retain the 8 lug bolt pattern? |
Re: Are all Disc brake conversions 5 or 6 lug?
You can convert to disc brakes up front. You may have to get a bit more creative than a simple bolt on kit though. I'll do some research when i get home, but i'm sure you can covert to discs off of a newer 3/4 ton front end.
Edit: found a link. may be some help http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...hp/t-5293.html Here's a link for doing the rear axle too if you are interested. http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billav...kes/index.html |

Why not get a 71/72 setup?

Dunno. I haven't stumbled across anyone who has tried it. Think it'd work? What are the differences in the A arms and such? Would the spindles fit?

I would just unbolt the whole front unit off of a 71/72 8 bolt frame as they are disk brake units. It will bolt right in place of your 69 unit.
