Brake lock up problem
My right rear wheel will lock up now and then, usually at low speeds when lightly depressing the brake pedal. Is this a bad wheel cylinder or maybe air in the line? The brakes have been on for several years now. Thanks.

Re: Brake lock up problem
Bad wheel cylinder or axle grease seal leaking or maybe a brake shoe loose.

Re: Brake lock up problem
Yep, could be the wheel cylinder is rusted and getting stuck. Best thing to do is pull the drum and see what's going on.

Re: Brake lock up problem
If it was a master cylinder they would all lock up.

Re: Brake lock up problem
I had the same problem except it was the left rear, axle seal was leaking. I agree best thing to do is remove the drum and check things out.

Re: Brake lock up problem
Rear brakes can be done with wheel cyl. for under a C-note if you do it
all your self, and if ones bad replace them both, you know Murphy right? |
Re: Brake lock up problem
Any type of oil or grease on the break shoe will cause it to "Bind" or "Grab" the drum.
Like mentioned..check the outer axle seal and the brake cylinder for leaks. |
