Just picked up a 85 3/4 Pickup and have some questions?
Hello to everyone on this board! I just picked up my first Chevy pickup, I've had Chevy's before but never a pickup. It's a 85 Scottsdale 3/4 ton Camper Special with 140,000 original kms on it. It's got a 350, th400 and a d60 rear. I will post some pics as soon as I get a hold of a camera. The question I have is about the rear brakes, they seem to lock up when you come to a complete stop, but only when you first move the truck and only for a block or so. Then it's gone! I've never heard of any thing like this before. Anyone?
Thanks Dave |

:welcome2: to the board from NC :welcoem:
I am going to guess you live in a very humid environment. As a wild guess I am thinking that you have brake linings that absorb moisture and get sticky until use and heat dry them out. HTH, |

yah I was thinking I may just start by bleeding the brakes. Thanks for the welcome.

Welcome from Georgia!!
Have you pulled either drum yet? Along the lines of the moisture, I was thinking about linings that might have something on them, so they need to be replaced, or maybe a bad wheel cylinder? My '77 had a frozen cylinder on one side and to-the-metal on the other side (guess which was getting all the pressure and doing all the work??), and would lock up like mad on a hard stop. Good luck and welcome again. Great board, great folks, LOTS of tech help available here! Brian |

My truck does it and I just put new brakes on it. It's just moisture and makes them grab till it evaporates.

I heard it was a commen problem. Also I have some questions about putting a small drop in the truck and some nicer wheels, the stock ones are butt ugly, any pics or info would be great thanks.
