hello everyone great site
I would just like to say hello to everyone. I've been checking out the site for a few days and man what a wealth of knowledge you all have. I would also like to add that I am now the proud new mother of an adorable little 1968 Gmc pick-up. She needs some tlc but I need to know exactly what she is before I go about buying parts willy nilly.
My pop gave me the "sea foam green bomb" (just last week)and I love it, it has been in our family my entire life, and I want to make her pretty again. My pop said (who knows if he is right or not) that this particular truck is kinda different because they only had it on production for about a month and a half. Could this be fact? I've tried crackin' the vin code mystery but I am getting no where fast. If it starts with cm10dp what does this mean? It is all original and the motor was rebuilt a few years back. I think he said it was a 305 but I can't remember just now. Any help from you smart guys and gals would be most appreciated. jennifer |

Re: hello everyone great site
Jennifer,
Welcome to the best site in the world for our trucks. There is a plethora of information to be had here, so take off your shoes and stay a while  If you want, you can put in your VIN number and have a response to your question about your truck in no time. Several of the guys here could almost tell you everything about your truck without even looking the VIN up in a book :metal: Enjoy...If you need a question answered about your truck, this is the place to be. Re: hello everyone great site
Jennifer, welcome to the forums, you'll probably get the info you are looking for here.
You won't find your VIN info online... GMC did funny things and are rather confusing. I don't understand 1/2 of them, but, we do have a couple GMC VIN guys floating around. I CAN say, that the VIN starting off with cm10dp breaks down like this; C = 2 wheel drive M = V-6 gas motor (probably 305 as you indicated) 10 = GVW.. 1/2 ton D = body type, Wide/fleet side P = Assembly plant, Pontiac Mi. I think that's what it breaks down to... I'm sure some one will correct me if I am wrong. |

Welcome to the board from West Tennessee. If the other side looks as good as the side showing you've got a dandy. What are your plans for it as it don't look bad from what I can see in that picture. Nice truck.

Re: hello everyone great site
Jennifer,
I see you already have 'welcome' wishes from the southern part of Mississippi, so here is one from the central section. You need to watch these guys....now that you let the cat out of the bag about your gender (plus your attraction to these trucks)....you might get several marriage offers in the first month. Keep your guard up and make them post pictures of themselves before you accept a ring!!! |
Re: hello everyone great site
a girl driving that truck would be hot....

Re: hello everyone great site
And now from North Mississippi. Welcome to the Board! You'll find all the info you ever wanted about a 67-72 Chevy/GMC on this site Without a doubt, I've learned more about these trucks here than all the magazines could ever offer.
