Today's lesson.....

Well Kids,

Today's lesson is don't overtighten bolts on dinosaurs with hard to find parts.

While tightening the bolts on the thermostat housing...I hear a distinct "crack". I say to myself "No, you didn't hear that, and surely you didn't do that either." Well I fired it up and filled it back up with coolant... and sure enough I see a leak above the bottom bolt. Glad I'm connected... I ordered a new one and will get it about 11 in the morning tommorrow. I'm surprised what the average parts house stocks for that 305v6.

So kids remember the tighter you get the bolt the looser your wallet gets...$20.99 for a 1/4 turn....sheesh :D

Ancient torque technique: turn it till it strips and back up a 1/4 turn........LOL.......Feelin' your pain...been there before...........JB

You need to run to the snap-on truck and get your arm calibrated.

Yup.........anyone need the back half of a fuel pump bolt for a small block chevy? You can come get it while I chase the other half out of the block. Bummer.........

You mean bolts break? Wow I have never done this. Ever, I swear.

This is why I prefer to use duct tape and/or hot glue for all attachments!

Well I was wrong

All of the housings that I ordered were wrong. I did find one that will be close but I would have to drill out the mounting holes to make it work. I am going to put a post on the parts board looking for one. I dirt dobbered it back together with JB weld hopefully it'll work for a little while without leaking.
