POR-15 or Rust Encapsulator
 

Any thoughts on the best stuff for frames and under body? Both POR-15 & Eastwood's Rust Encapsulator say they are better than the other. I know the POR-15 gas tank sealer works, but have not tried the rust preventative stuff. And the POR-15 does have several steps using their other products to "properly" apply it. Greg

If you don't do the POR prep right, it's not very effective. I've used both and both are good. I prefer the Eastwood for it's application. Don't have any LONG term resuslts, but both appear to do the job.

i am doing bolth on my truck the por 15 last longer but on my moveing parts im going to powder coat so my frame will be por15 and my control arms and all that other stuff will be poder coat

east woods chips realy easy too so i would go por on exposed parts

eastwood chips my a$$ i put it on some front shackles from my 4x4 and then covered it with chassis black and beat on it numerous times with the point of my slag handle and couldnt get it to chip or scratch i cant say its better because i use both and dont have any long term results but it is easier to apply

No long term results yet either, but I've used both and Eastwood has my vote.

i have use them on airplane landing gear for bush planes i have had to redo eastwood not por 15

my DD had some pretty nasty rust starting on the roof , sanded it down to bare metal , used eastwood rust encapsulate , used rattle can primer on that . been almost 2years now and not a lick of rust came back , THAT is after sitting out all the time . my bro used por15 on his vette chassis and no problems so far after 6 months

I will be using POR-15 for my truck because it has a short shelf life and a buddy of mine had a ton in the shop before he went overseas.

I like most everything I've tried from Eastwood minus the powder coat. the stuff I got form Eastwood was crap. But everything else I have gotten there has been solid.

I guess it comes down to price for me. Free vs. not free, wasn't a tough call.
