How to go about suspension?

I have a '68 chevy stepside. I want to drop it some and need new springs badly. Bad thing is, i have the old DRUM brakes on right now. I dont have the cash to dish out to get a "disc brake conversion" kit (with drop spindles) to help lower my front end.

Would it be wise to go ahead and do a 3"/5" drop just using springs to drop the front that much? and then later going with the brake conversion kit and new front springs(that will be much later ofcourse).

If it were me....... I would save up a few more duckets.... get in touch with someone like CPP and get a drop spindle and disc brake combo.....Do it right once.

My truck is still drum brakes also. Last winter I cut one and 1/4 ring off the front coil and got almost 3" drop. I bought a set of 4" drop springs from GMCPaul for $95. I'm happy with the stance but I wish i would have got 5" rear springs. This is cheap and easy until you buy a disc kit!
