primary(front most shoe) wearing into drum face...
ok, who thinks they may know cause of the metal backing of a primary shoe wearing a groove into the outside diameter of the inside drum face flange,,,, ?
been scraping and grinding and i finally got one drum pried off and i found this condition.. the shoes arent really worn out either, need adjusted probably though, but still... its like the bottom of the front most shoe is out away from the backing plate too far. ideas ? thanks ------------------ -71/C-10(thx teeitup and crews!)350 4+4/CH465(thx 71Chev, GMCPaul, and CPNE)longfleet bed(thnx meathead95)!still building it- -'84 Z28(Z28) 1G1AP87GXEL100000 with H.O. 305/4bbl/190net/hp(L69) 3.73 rear(GT4/YC4) 700R4(MD8-MXO) & other goodies :) -79 G20 pass van, 350/th350/10bolt, paint is overrated Randy- Lincoln, IL r68c30@hotmail.com © RSS Enterprises 2000 |
Backing plate bent? Inner bearing problem? That one brake shoe bent?

Shoe too wide for the drum or drum too narrow for the shoe? Ya never know some previous owner may have substituted a different drum w/ the same bolt pattern or installed the wrong size shoes. Hold down clip/spring missing or not on right? Also maybe springs or other components are worn causing some slack.

If it's the right shoe and the right drum, is the retainer spring there?
|
well i dont know that the spring was on all the way or not, when i pried the drum off the sring fell out and the pin fell out first before the drum weas even pulled off, so... but when i say i pulled em off, i mean i really pulled em off, forcefully with bfh and prying action and it bent he plates now,, damn cheap things.. 84 camaro* aluminum drums
