Header and manifold question

Okay, yesterday I went to install my hedman headers and it was a no go. I think they may have put the wrong part in the right box or something because they couldn't be installed because they kept hitting the shackle and they came down way too low. I had some others that came on it originally but I tossed them but they came down perfectly (don't recall the brand). Anyways, do you guys prefer manifolds or headers and if you like headers, which ones?? I don't remember the part number of the ones I have now. Also, I'm not pushin out all kinds of power here, roughly 260 so manifolds will work fine i'm sure, but the problem is finding them. LMC has them for mucho bucks but i'd like to find some good used ones. I just want to drive my dang truck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Header and manifold question

Exhaust manifolds are the best if you're looking for durability. Headers are prone to exhaust leaks and cooking your starter solenoid - granted there are fixes around these issues. SBC exhaust manifolds should be a dime a dozen. I am running ceramic coated Dynomax from Jegs on my TPI engine, and was surprised by the perfect fit and quality of them - unusual for headers.

What part number and do those work for a four speed? I need them to clear the clutch linkage.

You might want to check these factory 2 1/2 manifolds out.... I am thinking about running these on my 400 so I don't have the usual header issues to deal with. These aren't NOS but the price is on par with a cheap set of headers. Here's the link.....http://www.1aauto.com/1A/ExhaustMani...EM00168/270046

Interesting, I have Hedman Elites on GQ and they are a perfect fit, are
not near as low as the ones I took off, ball flanges so they don't leak, I
can only assume you got the wrong part. very, very happy w/ mine

Wish I would have heard about those before I bought 2 sets of used manifolds, still unhappy with them, but I plan to live with them. Are they selling both sides as I didn't see the LH side listed.

Re: Header and manifold question

This page has both LH and RH.....I only hope they will fit vortec exhaust ports.
