Opinion Wanted: Suspension paint - Matching or Contrasting Colors
 

My frame, a arms, are painted in Valspar low glass tractor paint black.

Does the rest of the component look better blended in or with contrast.

I was thinking tie rods, pitman, steering components in hammered silver paint.

Springs and Sway bar hammered red.

Truck will be black with red highlights.

Find some posts by Chevydude. His truck undercarriage is done in silver, red and blue. The detailing is incredible. His last posts on the rear swaybar had some good shots of the rear suspension. Hope that helps.

Driver? Keep it simple & basic; black.
Show? A little creativity makes even basic stuff seem much better.

I want a driver

But it will be static lowered 3 1/2 & 5 1/2 with lowered front springs and dropped spindle in front with dearched springs and lowered leaf shackles. Shaved door handles, cowl and side marker lights. I am trying just a simple no obvious frills custom/hot rod look.

About the only show that it would be would be one of the cruise nights.

moog bushings are blue are there any that are red or black but still good quality for the sway bar. (Blue will be no where else on the truck.)

Try Energy Suspension for the bushings. I think you can get them in red and/or black, and they are good quality parts.

do whatever you like ITS YOUR TRUCK does it really matter to you what someones else thinks?? i always do it the way i like well if others dont like it screw them!!!

If you have wheels that show the suspension and brakes then detail that area. Do the rest in black so it's low maintainence. Just remember lots of small parts painted different colors start to look very busy.

Here's what I did with mine. Everything you see is an Eastwood spray paint...:)

Yeah it my truck but I have always believed I would rather have a bunch of different people give me their rational so that I can make a better decision on my own. That is why I asked for pictures too.

I believe too many people never seek the advice and opinions of other that have been there and done that and that is the reason so many people never finish their project. I am methodical and like to see issues from others vantage points before wasting my time and money.

I am going to finish up the paint this weekend and the post on this thread have helped. My dad always said building cars that a custom should have all suspension black to show off the body mods and not detract whereas a hotrod that is fenderless should have contrasting colors to help pull the eye around the car in a congrunet manner.

He passed a few years ago so this is the only avenue where i do respect the opinions of peope. Especially the ones that posted. Even CDOWNS post to build it as I want it.
