i got a question for you guys

As you know i post on here alot even though i own the newer 73 to 87 style trucks. I am sure you have seen one of my posts before on here asking about your year trucks.... Any way alot of deals have fell through over the years and now i am faced with a new one and finally have time to think about it. This truck i am looking at is a 72. my favorite year. truck has a 350 th400 combo. The truck was given a frame off but it was done a while ago and then the poor thing sat outside. The guy got it with the cab and front clip all mounted and the step box all off it. He redid the box this year. and i gotta say he did a nice job. all the panals are great. he has a ne gate front pannal new steps a wood bed kit and new hardware. he would want to trade for my 1984 chevy c10. i love this style truck but it is not at all perfect.. There was some small surface rust on the hood cowl door bottoms and around the cab were the prep work was not done that well. So i would have to take the cab off and sand blast the under side and under coat it and get all the panals repainted. now the truck is for $4,000. do you think i should go for it? Would it be worth it or is my truck in nicer shape. i will post some pics but bare in mind that they do not tell the whole story...

please let me know

Does it run? Or is it in peices. If its all put together and 70% restored I would say it is worth more than 4k, but if it is only 50% put together then I would say it would be worth less than 4k.

to trade a complete better than average running driving truck for a major project vehicle don't make sence to me

Is your current truck a daily driver? Do you have the time and $$$ to work on the project? If you could stand the down time I would go for the '72 if you could get away with it. But I am partial to the '67-'72.

Re: i got a question for you guys

no it is not a daily. more like a sunday driver....... Money is a problem because i am a college student (who still can't spell). But i was thinking that i could do the frame and cab bottom at my house and then bring the rest to be painted at my local vouge tech. i hear they do great work. and they only charge for paint and supplies so were talking 500.00 for that and i think it would be a nice way to sorta give back to the comunitee. and give them something really cool to work on

I agree. I think you could sell your truck, buy a project, and have the money to finish it.

Take that glass fuel filter off of your 84 before it burns to the ground and isn't worth $.02!!!!!!!!

Re: i got a question for you guys

I second the advice to remove the glass fuel filter. Good to look at, but have been notorious for catching under the hood a fire.

I don't know exactlly what to tell you about which truck to work on, but when I was looking for a project I looked at what was going to bring me the big money in the end. My .02!
