How low is too Low?
My truck is lowered to the point where the outside of the lower control arms sits higher than the inside. Would this put any abnormal stress on the suspension? The rear cross shaft U-bolt busted off my right lower control. I was wondering if bad suspension geometry may have caused the bolt to break.
Thanks, |

What bolt?

Re: How low is too Low?
My fault didnt read very well. Did you do this while driving ex. smash in to a man hole cover or dragging?

Re: How low is too Low?

I did have it up on ramps to get a look at the underside of the trans tunnel. But that shouldn't have been a problem if everything was right. Fortunately this happened at slow speed and right in front of my house. |

I did seem that the outside tire (right) may scrubbing excessively on tight left turns. Like it's not turning in enough. And I have a very wide turning radius. Good thing I didn't sell my Jeep yet. I was going to put her up for sale this weekend. |
Re: How low is too Low?
was the cross shaft seated in the hole drilled out for the pin in the shaft?

I didn't lower it myself. It was already done when I bought it. |
Re: How low is too Low?
to answer your question you can never be to low
|
Re: How low is too Low?
You can be too low to be functional.
Check the angle on the Lower balljoints. |
Re: How low is too Low?
If your window will not roll down all the way because you drug through your door and your window now hits the ground, you might be too low.

Re: How low is too Low?
All I know is I STILL cant get my FU@KIN Hood to work cus the tires are blastin throught the fenders. I feel like I should be on a JEGS cover with no hood. Maybee Ill use hood pins on all 4 corners Hmmmmmmmmmm.

I'm thinking of getting the 2/4 drop kit from Early Classic. What do you guys think of the KYB shocks in that kit? |

Re: How low is too Low?
The factory U-bolts are much smaller on the 67-72 trucks than on later trucks. When I replaced mine, the new bolts didn't even come close to fitting in the same holes. Had to drill 'em out to get the bolts to fit.

But not that small. The other three bolts on the truck are much closer in size to the new bolt. And thanks. I was having a problem getting the new bolt in. It's just slightly too wide. Now I know this is normal. I can't get my drill motor under there, figured I'd just lay there and file away. |

Finally took pics. I replaced the one undersized bolt. If I can get acceptable camber, I'll leave it as is.

Re: How low is too Low?
it looks like someone hacked the springs.
