plastic gas tanks 87 V20?

anybody know where I can get plastic gas tanks for my 87 V20 (FI, dual tanks). Are they much more expensive than the steel ones? Is the sending unit and dual tank switch lines, etc. a dealer only item? Just got my new frame situated on top of the axles, and starting on the brake and fuel lines, etc. Thanks guys!

the sending unit was only availible from GM when I got mine about 4-6 months ago. You can also still get the switch valve from GM. As for the plastic tanks, not sure if there is a savings there. I sell the metal ones though....

I know JC Whittney sells a plastic tank for the C/R trucks not shure if it will fit the V line.

Hi guys, thanks for the replies. I don't want the plastic tanks to save money, I think they are a little more expensive. They don't rust, and they don't blow up like regular tanks would. I have heard they melt instead... I have been thinking maybe I should just get some new steel tanks, maybe have them coated? I think I remember somebody offering a coating inside and out to prevent rust. Anybody hear or see anything like that? Probably lots of money I guess unless you could do it yourself. Thanks guys!

I know the Eastwood Co. has a product called tank seal i think it also prevents rust its a coating that is used on the inside of the tank.

i guess you could go with that on the inside and maybe like a rhino coating on the out side.

I used the POR15 sealer in my tank ( http://www.por15.com/PRODUCTS/COMPLE...2/Default.aspx ) and last time i went 4-wheeling i hit the tank on a rock and put a crack in it but no fuel has driped out so far, seems like a good product IMO.
