Where is the HIGHEST CONCENTRATION of SWB trucks located?
 

Out here in Kansas you see more Long bed trucks or Extended cabs than Short Wheel Base trucks on the newer vehicles. For the older trucks this is true also except for the extended cabs part. I've been looking for a 71-72 SWB Cheyenne for a long time now with no luck. After checking out E-Bay for a number of years I noticed most of them are from the Great Northwest, Westcoast or Southern Regions.....I guess most of the trucks out here were purchased for farm, construction, or pulling trailers/campers. Anyway it seems to be more difficult to find one here, a real one that is. Do you think this is so? If so I'm going to have to travel in order to find one which SUX. The other areas of the country they evidently were purchased more for their sporty style. What regions do you think of the country sold more SWB trucks back in the late 60's to 72? What do you think the reason was?

I bought my shortbed67 in Brady Tx.I bet there were at least 6 more shortbeds running around town.

My '67 started it's life out in Texas but has been in Iowa for many years....

Shortboxes in Alberta Canada are about as rare as hens teeth in the old years. New trucks are all shortboxes, unless its a diesel 1 ton

I'll Agree with that statement. Any shortbox truck I've seen in Canada for the most part has been from South of the Border. Mostly Texas too if I recall.

They are mostly in the S/W from Texas to California and the S/E from Virginia to Georgia(old Nascar country).

I understand what you're going though, I can go months without seeing another shortbed truck.

In Nevada I'd See Maybe 30 67-72 Trucks In A Typical Day Out & About & Probably 1/3 Were Shortbeds. There Was An Awful Lot Of Them There. :) John

The majority of trucks I see here in SC are swb stepsides or longbed fleetsides. I do see a short fleet running around every now and then, but not too many of em.

I don't know about SoCal, everyday I see about 10 LWB's.
Once a month I might see a SWB and it seems like one of the three I always see.

I think Arkansas. Just about every truck you see down there is a shortbed regardless of make/model. I wonder why, maybe it's the winding Ozark Hills. Next time you are in Arkansas check it out.

I just picked up a swb K10in Utah...one owner.

Why are the swb version so pouplar. I thought the lwb would have been.

I see one every day - Mine There are a few SWB around town but I'd say there are more LWB, the one beside mine is my sons LWB

OUside of shows... I very, very rarely spot a SWB truck around here.

There's a reason you don't see many short fleets (or really stepsides either.)

Over the years on average lwb trucks outsold swb trucks by about 5 to 1.

It seems that all of the swb trucks around here are steppers, but I will see several lwb trucks running around town, I think around here the main reason is that most of the farmers and stuff needed as much bed room as possible or they needed cheaper so they either went all out for a long fleet or saved some green and got the short step. I could be totally off base here though as I am not even sure if steps were cheaper new, i would assume so but I have been wrong before.

You'll find the greatest concetration of SWB in junkyard heaven. :D

No, like 67chevyredneck stated, there were a LOT more LWB sold as they were used as TRUCKS, and a LWB was more useful. Until I moved down into the southeast the very few SWB I saw were stepsides used for local small business's. I can't remember ever seeing a shortfleet until I was a member of this board.

I just recently got back from a trip out to Tucson. I thought there were a lot of trucks here in TX but AZ might have us beat. There were old trucks everywhere. And they were being driven!
