Drop spindles 67-72?

5 Attachment(s)
My question is will it help me go all the way down layin frame with front spindles. When I first z'd the frame and drop the back we set it up with the frame on the ground front and back. i didnt think at the time that when rebuilding the front suspension with all new stuff it would lift it up as much as it did. Now the front frame sets 3in off the ground and the rear is 1in off. I converted every thing to 5lug so i have front spindles from a 72. Which brand of spindles are yall runing. Here are some pics of how i did the frame and the last pics isnt very good but thats how it sets with the front rebuilt with bags all the way down. tp://67-72chevytruhttp://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1159503473cks.com/vboard/attachment.php?attachmentid=217391&stc=1&d=1159503158[/IMG]

What bag mounts are you running? I am using the bag cups from Suicide Doors as they are and my truck doesn't go as low as others. Some people have trimmed the bottom cup down to an inch, that might help as well as drop spindles.

I am running the 67-70 spindles from GMC Pauls (McGaughys).

If you need 3", spindles should give you that in the front. That and a small c-notch in the rear should lay you out again.

Looks like you've come a long way already- keep us updated.

Yank those lower bumpstops and trim the height on your cups. There's more to be had in your current setup.

Agreed. Cutting the cups down should get you at least an inch, maybe 1-1/2". Cut those, and get some drop spindles and you'll be back where you want it.

Good pictures!!! I have a 67 and the previous owner installed front disc brakes with stock spindles. I recently bagged the front with Slam RE-7' which have built in bump stops. I cut the the cups down an inch but would like to drop it lower. I'm wanting to put on a set of 2.5 inch drop spindles. I've heard talk about people putting 71-72 spindles on a 67 How can I tell what year my current spindles are? Are the spindles marked in any way indicating a year? I'm confident the stock steering linkage is still a 1967.

Any information would help?

Thanks

If you have discs, you have at least '71s- or aftermarket. You can get 73-87 stuff even cheaper. Have to use the newer ball joints though, but I figure, while you're in there... might as well.

Bell-Tech makes a 3 inch drop spindle for our trucks and is what I have on my 'burb; I believe the part number is #3100.

No bags yet, but hopefully soon(within a year).

Correction, part #3120

Question: Is it safe to do what he did with the rear cuz I have been conteplating back 1/2 my short bed but this seems a much easier way of doing that?

!! I hope I didn't just open a can of worms !!
