SB trans/ Driveshaft ?

I'm putting together a swb 2wd 68 smallblock, it has a driveshaft for an automatic turbo 350, My ? is would that have come with a short shaft or long shaft turbo 350 from the factory. Thanks, Tom

That is incorect... these trucks all came with the short shaft TH350 in them. HOWEVER... you'll want to make sure that's what it is set up for, being they didn't do the TH350 untill 69 IIRC.

I agree with Longhorn Man. My 70 GMC had a short tail in it from the factory.

The tailshaft was shorter than one out of a 68 Camaro, but is there a difference between a short tail shaft for a 4x4 and 2x4?I am used to 4 speeds is why I ask.Sorry for hijacking this thread.

a 4X4 tranny would be a 'no shaft' unit. The transfer case bolts up to where it would be.

if my post above looks stupid, it is becouse there was a reply there saying that the trucks came with long shaft trannys.
