Questions about transmission upgrade

I own a '78 C10 with a 250 I6. I am looking to upgrade the TH350 to a 700R4. Is the bell housing pattern the same? Also will the existing flexplate work or will I need a different one? Not to mention the TV cable, do they make aftermarket carbs for the I6 that have a TV cable mount on the throttle lever, and do they actually work right? And what is the length of the existing TH350 with the I6, so I know if I'll have to modify the driveshaft. What converter would I use, I know I want to use a lockup but what size? I've been googling for hours and cannot figure any of this out. Any help would be much appreciated. One more thing, what gearing should I use in the rear end if I can get this to work?

I think some of this was covered in another post about a month ago. I don't remember the answers, though. You might find it with the search function.
