Dual 20 Gallon Tanks

Simple question. Is there ANY way to make 20 gallon tanks fit underneath SWB trucks, or are the tanks simply too long? The brown parts truck has dual 20gals, a setup I wouldn't mind keeping, but I've always understood it to be they would not fit on a shortbed. They wouldn't clear the leafs on a SWB, correct?

Unfortunately, I doubt they'd fit...

If you want more fuel storage, maybe consider a K5 fuel tank? Be easy enough to set up the fuel fill on a stepper :)

There is no way to make them fit under a SWB truck.

cliffa, i don't think they would fit and on your stepper it would take some fab work. but, the k5 tank would look great on your truck

Back in 87, I had a 2wd SWB, I thought there was a mod to the filler neck that increased full capacity some. Not sure, but it seemed that the filler necks exteded further into the tank than nessecary or something. supposedly gave you a couple gallons more capacity, but may be my mind playing tricks.

I would love to do the Blazer tank mod.... when I have some money  Maybe if I can make enough money from selling the dualtank setup off the brown truck I can buy a Blazer tank and sending unit. How would I connect it to my filler neck in the fender though? A long hose?

I know it sounds like a good idea, especially since you have them on the donor truck. Considering your budget, and the cost of gas these days how would you fill both tanks anyway?

Sell them off and by more fun stuff instead...:)

I'd dedicate one entire check from work to it  Then I could forget about gas for a looong time :P

Yeah, I think the dualtank setup is gonna be the second thing I try to sell, after the front clip. That's my project this weekend; take the fenders and hood off, clean them up, take some photos, and list them here or sleezebay.

I gotta find out if there's diesel left in those tanks...

great idea cliffa, you may also want to just run the k 5 tank with the filler in the bed of the truck. buy the way are you still selling the grill and emvlems? Pm me if so

Yeah, you could use fuel-rated hose at the filler neck end and the fuel tank end and use some tubing (exhaust) for the run. The run might be kinda tricky to maintain a rearward slope to the tank underneath and alongside the framerail. If you wanted something trick, you could fill ;) (shave) your fuel door and recess a marine-style fuel cap in the surface of your 'to be' wood bed floor above the tank. Along the lines of what Jeff (Bigblock73) did.

I have an image of you hoarding 2 twenty gallon tanks full of diesel fuel. Then in the distant future, running around with the 2 twenty gallon tanks tied down in the bed of your stepper like Mad Max. ;)

LMAO oh god, I seriously just laughed out loud. Oh my.... phew....  :metal:

On your other comment... I'm not too thrilled about having to hack up a new wood floor... how did the Blazers's gas filler lines run? Couldn't I simply use their setup? Its a really fun sounding project for down the road.

PM being sent 84 400
