Dual tank wiring
 
i have a 77 half ton that originally had dual tanks and has the dual tank harness. i only have one tank and removed the solonoid from under the truck. can i hook up the gauge to only one tank w/out a problem? how could i do this?

Yes.

You should have two wires leading from the fuel tank sending unit. One of the wires is the Ground wire and may already be grounded to the frame (near the tank). The other wire is the signal wire and leads to the harness. It is this wire that leads to the fuel gauge. You'll need to locate the signal wire on the wiring harness and tap into this wire. (I'm not sure of the coloring code on a '77 fuel wiring harness.)

sending unit is blue on my truck, roughly 18 or 22 gauge, same as everything else on the truck.
