Cool.. You know, I would check up here now and again to see if anything was going on but I rarely saw anything. So I just started posting and I must say... it started to liven up a bit. I would like to think I helped spark interest in some of you!

Hemmit... your ride is sweet! I love just looking at your avatar!

Do we have any members in the los angeles area?

http://www.webshots.com/search?query...e=chromeheader You can see my truck from the link. It is acually apart right now. It will no longer be a stepside as that was not original anyway.. I do have a fleetside bed for it. I am going to use an engine from an 88 Burb so I am going TBI.. Lots of other stuff also..

That is just too cool! And exactly what I wanted to do with my 65. I hunted around for a long time for a rollover 99 and later regular cab shortbed 4x4 before I finally gave up and just did a drivetrain swap on my existing chassis.
Got any pictures of the underside?

No I don't.............It's just sitting on the frame right now........I have made my own mounts for the bed and cab.................The cab rides about 2-3 Inches below the bed but i'll use rubber cab mounts and spacers to make up the difference...............The 99 was a longbed that i had shortened 26 inches.....................Looks like you have a great start with your truck....................Hemmit

Hey Demmit, clean lookin sub you got there....I've wanted to get one of those for awhile now, and shorten it down to a 2 door tahoe wheel base. Section it down to mimic a mid 60s 2 door tahoe.........ahhhh, someday. Nice project you got on your hands now, keep us informed!!

We may even pick up a few new members over the Winter. Too cold to work on our trucks unless you are lucky enough to have a heated garage.

I have the 67-72 sickness but have been pushed into the 60-66 after inheriting this 66. My best friend and I built this truck 22 years ago when were in high school. He died this summer in a motorcycle accident and his parents gave me the truck. All I have done is freshened it up. I got rid of some of the "80's touches. (wheels, braided hoses, small chrome air cleaner, MT valve covers). Im going to drop it a bit and put a original looking steering wheel on it.

when i boought mine, it had to be 64 or older (i was born in 64)...so ended up with a 64. within the next couple of weeks it will have power steering and disc brakes....that will be the last big things for a while, except for sanding, priming etc...it is a daily driver of sorts (I have a work truck that i drive to office back and forth)...but loving it in spite of frustrations...final look will be a little rough and low...will post some pictures soon...have gotten a lot of help from this forum...especially about checking the ground on ANY electrical issue

Re: Great To See All the New 60-66 People

This is my newest project. I had the orange 71 in my avatar till I found this gem, so I had to sell the 71 Longhorn. Just finally got around to pulling off the front clip today. I picked up a 88 chev longbox rolling chassis that this will be sitting on. 350 with Th350 tranny replacing the 261 and 4 speed in it now. Looks like a fella from Cali may be buying the engine and tranny. It will be lowing it just a little. Still debating colour scheme. I know I have my work cut out for me on this one but working in a heavy truck collision shop we have all the high tech goodies to get it done! Hope ya'll can give some great info for this beast!
