Body work before or after replacing body mounts?
I did search but didn't come up with much... It makes since to me to go ahead and replace the body mounts before I start doing the bodywork on my blazer. but I wanted to get your guys' opinions.
I don't have a bunch of work to do... new rocker panel and some floor pan repair (about a 1"x2" hole) on the drivers side, and a small hole (1"x1") on the passenger side. so its isnt like I am replacing a whole lot... but I still want to know if i should do it before or after I replace the body mounts... Thanks alot! |
Re: Body work before or after replacing body mounts?
Replace the mounts first and then shim the body to get your door gaps right, fender and hood gaps right all before starting panel replacement. This will help out in the long run.

:agree: well worth doing 1st. nathan, how do the torsion boxes look? Keep the hard top on while the rocker and floor is being repaired if possible too. :gi: |
Re: Body work before or after replacing body mounts?
I think.. and thats a big think... the rocker boxes are ok. but i will find out... yeah I had read to leave the top on.
heres another question... when replacing body mounts... top on? or top off? |
Re: Body work before or after replacing body mounts?
I did my mounts with the top on,just watch the gas tank lines when lifting the body to change the mounts ..

Re: Body work before or after replacing body mounts?
Also, make sure you use the right mounts in the right places---and expect some alignment issues. Hopefully you will be doing all the mounts including the radiator support. If you leave the top bolted in place and the front clip bolted on, your alignment issues will be minimal. Good luck
