How Frankenstein is your K5?
 

Just was thinking about mine and had to laugh about all of the different parts from other trucks mine has, if someone else other than me owned it and took it to the shop or went to Autozone for repair and replacement parts they'd be mad at the PO.

Starting with a 70K5

1989 K2500 intake TB sensors etc.
1990 Ironc 350 TPI cylinder heads (for spark plugs)
1975 K5 Blazer front end with disc brakes
1971 Master cylinder to work with the disc brakes
rear backing plates from a Heavy Half 77 with 2.5"W X 11" drums
and alot of other fabricated items that cannot be store bought only fabricated.

That's why you got to love these old Blazers though alot of late model parts can be swaped as upgrades, we have the sweetest body style and can bolt on late model upgrades so we can have cake and eat it..LOL

Mine is no where near that Frankensteined - mine will have the rims and tires from my 69 K20 and it will have axles and brake booster from a 78 3/4 ton dono truck. Also gets a NP205 from an unknown donor. Otherwise, it will be pretty much all 70 K5.

71 k5, 454 from a 82 3/4 ton, th400 from a 90 burban, 203 from a 78 blazer, 205 from a 79 or so pickup, dana 60 front from a 82 1 ton, 14ff from I think a late 70s 3/4 ton, rear 56" springs from who knows, front 52" springs from who knows, seats from a 97 cavalier

Mine is a '70 2WD body on a '69 4WD frame and axles. The motor, tranny, and t-case are from a '72 K5.

Well, the above posts have me needing to make some additions. 400 sbc from unkown donor vehicle, hei from the aforementioned 78 3/4 ton donor truck, 4" front Superlift springs and 2 1/2" unknown brand lift blocks for the rear axle, and rear driveshaft from a different K5 purchased from a boardmember. Guess it is more frankensteined than I thought.

Since this is in the K5 section I won't go into all the stuff added to my 69 K20.

mostly stock - only mod are the lift, ash tray converted to cup holder, grant steering wheel, and CD head unit & 6-disk changer hidden in the console.

71 Blazer:metal: 68 Camaro 350. Front & Rear 3/4 ton diffs from 77 donor pickup. Front 4" Rancho springs w/Warrior lift shackles. Rear 6" Superlift springs. 1970 swap meet front grille. Fabbed on aftermarket rear drop bumper for 73 & up Chev's AND rear seat from a 90's Voyager minivan.

The one with the 'mostest' is ...:rolleyes:

Started life as a 70 CST blazer, copper w/white interior and top.
Was rolled aprox. three years later. :whine:
Firewall removed and replaced with a 72 pick up's cut up firewall. (blue)
Donor windshield frame and pass. side quarter gathered up in Mich.
Doors/hood/fenders/frame/axles are from my very first blazer.
Interior is from an 02 Tahoe.

That makes FIVE different trucks donating the major parts to make one blazer whole again. :metal:

Drive train parts and the rest of the small stuff will be taken as needed from those trucks wanting to live on. :flag:

'nother set.

Next step is install new body mounts, align and start welding parts together to make it 'really' whole again.

well i am not even close to finished but this is how it has started
was 4x4 swaped with 70 link arms and rear axle and changed front axel with 74 2 wheel sadel and front brakes now its 2 wheel drive
the core support was picked up at the swap meet the LH fender came off some 71 a guy was parting out the RH fender came off a 72 pick up i had the hood i got out of a wrecking yard off a 71 GMC
eng came out of 66 pickup
trans from unknown trans crossmemeber out of 81 pickup
and yet to find out where the rest of the parts will come from

mine is just a bunch of panels from a local shop + 1 donor blazer... looking back I should have restored them both. waaah!!
