Removing the ignition switch tumbler.....
 

I have done this before years ago...but its been a while. If I remember correcttly, you use a paper clip in the two small holes in the chrome housing to remove the tumbler.

Does anyone know ??

Does the ignition have to be in a certain spot (off,acc,ign)

When the truck was given to me, it came with no keys....and I could start it with no keys...but the ignition only goes to off..not to lock.

I bought a complete lock kit from Truck Stop.....Does anyone know how to do this ???

Yes you use the holes to remove it. The reason you put the key in and turn it on is so you can remove the tumbler, it acts like a handle. But seeing yours turns without the key tells me the key will not stay in with the switch on and you will have to use some other way anyway... I dont know about putting it back as I am not looking at it..

Everytime I have taken out a tumbler it was in the on position..

As long as it's not in the locked position, you should be ok.. I usually put the key in, turn it to the unlocked position or acc, put the paper clip in the hole, then while pressing and holding the paper clip in I turn it all the way to the left. It sometimes takes a little finessing. It will move pass the locked position, then you will be able to pull out the cylinder.

BUT.. if you don't have the key, it probably won't turn that way..

I lost the keys to my '55 Chevy and it did the same thing. So, I took it to a lock smith and he made me a key for it.. :c2: IT cost about $15 and took about 20 minutes.

Other than that, all I can think of, is too break the cylinder. Some of those old cylinders can be broken pretty easy..
