New guy just saying hi!

Just wanted to say hi to all. I have a 1965 stepside that I am working on. Seems like we must be the odd guys, what I mean by that is there are tons of parts for the pre 1960, and then again after 1966:) I have been working on cars and have been in the engine rebuilding buisness for most of my life, but have now retired from that, so maybe I can help here from time to time, although I have to say when it comes to some things like trannys rear ends and the late model things like computers and such I am totally cluess. Anyway it was nice to find this site, and I look forward to getting to know some of you.

Welcome... There are lots of parts out there just have to know where to look and is a bit harder then the other years you mentioned... Also there are more parts then there were 5 years ago.. I am acually going to be putting a computer in my truck.. I have a 5.7 out of an 88 Burb that is going in with a 700R4 Tranny... If a Hemi falls into my hands then the 5.7 will be out the door...

Thanks for the welcome chevy fleetside. I have found some sites that offer a lot of parts for these trucks, here is one of them http://www.americanclassic.com/asp/dyncatv2.asp I am also going to be running a 700R4 with a 350 chevy. It was the last engine I built before I closed my doors. It is 30 over with flat top pistons, a zz4 roller cam and airgap intake with a 750 holley. I wasnt sure were it was going to end up when I built it, but have decided on putting it in this truck. I am getting the tranny back today from having it converted from electric speedo to gear drive, and I am ready to drop it in. Excitement is building!

Welcome! It sure is cool to have so much knowledge in building motors, I wish I had it! But I have the computer thing down pat so maybe thats the trade off ;)

Welcome 4X from canada .I don't think we're odd .
I like to think we're ahead of the curve considering no one would even blink an eye at a 60-66 ten or so years ago.
but hey, I liked them in the 70's too.
probably see you on the engine & drivetrain board ha ha
