Lifters
Does anyone know thge lifter adjustments on the original 6cyl in a 1958 Chevrolet Apache long bed 1/2ton? I have the book but it onle shows intyake and exaust also would you know if its hydraluic or flat?

hydraulic or solid? they are flat tappets. Not sure on that it's been to long for me but in my panel it's hydraulic

Unless converted, they are solid lifters.
intake and exhaust specs are all you need, IIRC, intake is 006 and exhaust is .014, but verify with your manual. That's warm specs, I do my 235 warmed up for 30 minutes and with the engine running. |

Mine were hydraulic. I don't think they were changed from Solids.

Interesting. I recall my MoToRs manual only having mention of hydraulic lifters in the Vette L6 engines. Not that MoToRs is a Chevy bible, but you may have a Vette engine in your truck.

I just rechecked my 59 panel..........it has a car 250 from 74, so no help here

this is the orginal motor that came in the truck nothing has ever been done to it at all

Yes, but you have to remember that back in the 50's the factory wasn't looking at performance for any engine type, let alone the inline 6s. Hyd lifters were a convienence, solids were (still are) a PIA...the hyd afforded the owner the luxury of just enjoying the drive, almost maintence free. |
