Here's my rust situation....(CAUTION..OOGLY!)
 

I'm gonna need new front and rear floor sections, new inner and outer rockers, new cab floor supports and new kick panels. I have everything but the kick panels. The rocker boxes look fine....they'll need some sanding and a coating though. I keep putting it off dreading the day that I start. It's just hard to know when and where to start. My idea of working on it so far is to get all geared up, open the hood...stare at it for a while....then open the doors and stare at the floors for a while....then grab a beer, put my hands on my hips, shake my head and go back inside. :lol: I started to cut out some of the rust. Do you guys see any place where I'm gonna have some trouble? One place that *I* am concerned about is the little hump that the seat sits on. There's a good bit of rust on it and as far as I know, they don't make that piece.

Wow! Did I mention WOW!! As far as the front floor you might want to check into the complete front floor section for a truck. They are made as one unit and might be a way for you to go. I have not checked into it too much yet but plan on including it in the DVD if it is do-able. As far as where to start, brace off your openings making sure your doors fit up right before cutting. Then have at it! Good luck and keep us posted.

I totally agree with rokcrln. Even before I read his reply I was thinking this is a great candidate for the new replacement floor that just came out. It’s a little pricey but well worth the time savings and it will appear stock. actuly if you can wait a little the floor with all of the support ribs braces and supports will be out soon as well.

I have just started to replace my floor with the new Goodmark peice, It is very nice, as for fit , still havent got that far yet, as for price, I think it is worth every penny.

:puke: :puke: :puke: Sorry! That really got to me. Man that is bad. Good thing is they make the parts you need to fix that. I'm not sure about the kick panels though. Atleast they are flat and you could make your own out of some flat stock. Good luck with it.

I thought about doing the one piece floor but I heard it was gonna be a PITA. I like the idea of slapping in one piece, welding it in and being done with it. No cutting, measuring, measuring, measuring, cutting, fitting, cutting etc etc. I saw the one with the braces and floor supports but that's another $200 just for the floor supports that I already have that, when removing the entire floor, wouldn't be hard to replace anyways. Shipping is gonna kill me.

Yeah, your right, that is seriously ugly. I don't see how to repair it without taking off the rocker boxes, the area you have to work on is hidden by them.
I have not seen the seat area available as a patch panel and you are going to have to replace it.

You're lucky as it doesn't seem to be above the firewall seam so that can be a plus. My .02 is bite the bullet and go for the entire floorpanel replacement, I think the finished product will come out much cleaner then all the patch panels anyway, but you are going to have replace the rocker boxes IMO.

As far as shipping goes, Goodmark is located close to you, call them.

Bring it to me and I will fix the floors for you and make the panels need for the seat mounting points so you do not have to buy the entire floor. I am only about 3 1/2 hours away.

If you have a hard top, put it on. You need to keep everything supported and alligned before you lose any more support.

How long would it take you to do something like that? So do yall think doing the entire floor would be worth doing? I'm starting to lean towards doing that but what do I do with all the sheet metal I've already bought??

My Blazer looks similar and I hope to start this soon. Two things to think about with the full floor:

1) Is it available in a high hump (ie. 4x4)?
2) Does it include bucket seat mounting brackets (ie. Blazer)?

In my case I've bought individual panels (front floor, rear floor, outer rockers, etc.)

My blazer is equal to or worse that that one. I got entire floor of a cab cut down the middle from a west coast member for $ 75. the front 5-6 inches was gone and some of the rockers. Between that floor and the patches I am replacing alot of my floor. I have got to say thou having original metal and repo patches. I know the guage etc. Is suppose to be the same but the old stuff is alot harder. I will post pics when I can just about ready to start welding back in.

Don't buy the entire front floor. I can repair that and make it look good. If you brought it to me I could get it done in two weekends time. Let me know if you are interested.

Oh yeah, put the top on it like they suggested above if you have one. If you do not have one, my friend has a double wall he may want to get rid of since I gave him my single wall top for his.

A freind of mine took good used floor pans out of a parts pickup truck. They worked out well. He bought new rockers. Good luck.
