New guy with a panel wagon
Glad to have stumbled on this site. Finally convinced my great-uncle to sell me his 68 panel wagon. Been after it for years. He turned 90 and family made him quit driving it. Yes, at 90 he's been driving it. It was his baby, and he had to bite his cheek to keep from crying as we loaded it on the trailer. He made me promise to take it hunting and camping, and has called several times to check on it.
68 panel wagon, powerglide tranny, had 307 but he pulled it in 81 and put in a 305 from a low mileage wrecked Firebird. Had underdash factory (was that an option?) a/c which he pulled out in 91. Has original owner's manual with almost everything he's done to it written in the back. Have the original commercial type seats (front only), rims, hubcaps, and an old 8-track player in it. I have several issues I'll be picking your brains about and searching for info on, so I'll start looking for the right places for my questions. Hopefully, I'll be able to contribute to others as well as find answers. Thanks for having me, trapperjack |

Liberty Hill, north of Austin. Was looking for the place to post photos, this must be it. I've taken quite a few as I've been working on it. It's getting rattle-canned a bit at a time. Not a lot of rust, but some, and a few dings here and there. If I can figur out how to load photos, I'll put a few here. I'm on dial-up, so everything is slow and sometimes doesn't work.
The seats are from a conversion van. Took off the old swivel base from seat and bolted right on to seat brackets that were in the truck. Looking for seat and mounts for rear cargo area. |
