What do you guys/gals recommend for new steering box for 72 4x4? Prefered supplier?
Thanks. |

I have gotten the last couple from the local parts stores. If I remember right they were around 70 bucks and were rebuilt.

I've had one of theirs in my truck for over 20 years and its still going strong |
Re: Best PS box for 72 4x4
Does adding new steering box tighten up handling on our older trucks? I know it depends on how worn old one is and how suspension, etc. is on truck but most of these 30+ year old boxes seem to be a little loose.
I was also hoping to hear any pros/cons to newer variable ratio boxes or ones with different ratios. Part of me assumes it would not matter but I was hoping for a tighter turning radius on 72 swb 4x4. Had a Ford recently that was same length but seemed to get quite a bit better turn around. I was thinking it was due to quickness of my response rather than geometery of truck. |

I found that too much air in the front tires will make mine terrible. There are newer aftermarket boxes out there but are quite pricey.

I am running one from a 79 and it works great, however I was using a 2wd box with a cross over steering link and it had a mmmmuch tighter turning radius
