Leaky Exhaust Donut

I just found the exhaust leak I've been hearing on my new '62 Step.

it's one of the exhaust donuts. I'm assuming those are pretty easy to replace?

Although.... a guy I was just talking to mentioned the bolts are known to snap off easy when removing them. He even suggested using a small torch to heat them up first.

Any advice or suggestions?

...there's this stuff called "p-b,blaster" it's an airisol spray you can buy at your parts store spray it on and wait it will take some time so go slow...once it has broken loose move the bolt back and forth to keep from jambing the threads keep spraying it on till you can remove it don't put a flame (torch) near this stuff it WILL BURN!! and if the worst should happen....sh*t can it and go get a good set of headers....no mo problem...good luck.

PB Blaster works good but the trick is to soak it way before you start to work on it. I'd spray it a couple times a day for at least a couple days before I put a wrench on it. Also, if you got an impact wrench (air or electric), use it to hammer on it and break it loose rather than putting a wrench on it and twisting it off. Go easy with the impact then work your way up. Switching to a header is a good idea too but more than likely you'll run into the same problem there with the bolts going into the heads. Break one of those off while trying to remove the stock manifold and you'll really be kicking yourself. Patience is the key! Good luck!

X4 What everyone else said..

Recently, I replaced all three donuts and busted the last bolt I took off. It was a pain getting it out without damaging the manifold.. Although, I was really surprised how easy it was to take off the exhaust manifold on my V8.. minutes..

Be careful using using a torch after you used PB Blaster... You don't want your engine bay to catch on fire if you over sprayed it... Don't ask how I know..
