Gear noise normal in 4Hi?

My 97 GMC K1500 has the electronically switched tranfer case. It goes into and comes out of 4Hi pretty quietly, but I noticed that when in 4Hi, there's some gear noise, kinda like an old school bus, especially when I let off the gas. No clunking or anything, I'm just wondering if that's normal to hear the gears whine a bit.
Thanks.

our 98 z71 dosnt make any noise in 4x4, the only one that does that is my 63 4x4 suburban.

My blazer makes a little noise in 4x4 but not really noticeable unless you pay close attention. Can you describe the sound any better. I am thinking of a couple different noises that a school bus would make. Is it just the sound of it being in 4 wheel drive instead of 2?
